Tropical Rainforest (Taman Negara)

National Park (Taman Negara) in Malaysia/Pahang is more like dream destination specially for those likes rainforest adventures such as River cruising, Jungle trekking, Night trekking and Canopy walk.

We visited Taman Negara couple times and only stayed at Mutiara Taman Negara Hotel which is a bit pricey but stunning experience.
For sure you can find some cheaper hostel around depend on how adventures are you !

Also highly suggested to visit “Orang Asli” – Orang Asli means original peoples in Malay. Nowadays due to tourism purpose, they settle along the river in Taman Negara to demonstration old culture, skills and sell crafts.
While they show us how they hunt and survive in this tropical climate , we learned how to hunt by their bamboo blowpipe.

Night Jungle Walk – Night jungle walk was so great and mysterious , by good chance you can see lazy monkey and some Kind of deer from observation hide. Close your eyes and listen to the sound of jungle at night… DIVINE.

Some people expected to see tiger or maybe wild animal! Hence when they saw only some monkey and Insect, disappointed. But I think being in 130 million years old rainforest is so exciting itself.

Jungle Trekking and Canopy Walkway – Next morning we went for jungle trekking and canopy walk with guide. He showed us many plants and gave details about their usage and benefits.
Probably canopy walkway is must do activities in Taman Negara. So imagine being in middle of jungle about 30-40 metres above the ground level and wonderful panoramic view a along the walkway.

So memorable do not miss this great adventure.

Boat to Lata Berkoh – Also we went to Lata Berkoh by boat with same guide. we did not swim there . It took around 45 -50 minutes by boat and around 1km walking to the fall (cascade).
Plus the water on that part of river was so clean. And the boatmen knew the river very well so sometimes they went through a few rapids (white water) which were more exciting .

Notes:

  • Do not expect any fancy, luxury boat or jetty just flat wooden local boat.
  • Also Do not forget to have Prevent mosquito bites spray and “after bite cream” .

Definitely Taman Negara worth a visit, do not miss it  🙂
